First off I would like the say that Photo shop is such an awesome application for many uses, if used by the right hand that is. Photo shop can also be used for evil. People photo shop others without the person in the picture knowing, this can be very hurtful to the person Photo shoping them like they don't look good, which they already do. Photo shoping people can also damage the human body has on society, making younger teenagers believe being thin is the way to be "hot" disregarding the important issue, health. The media kept throwing pictures of perfect bodies that the society has thought it is normal to be super thin without having eating disorders or dieting to the brink of death. Photo shop is an awesome application but, must be used for personal use, as if this would ever happen.
It so awesome that Peter Lindbergh came out with this brilliant idea, to show the society that makeup or any other kinds of alterations doesn't make you beautiful. This would totally lift up the spirits of young men and women who are insecure about how they look, it would help them break out of their insecurity and love who they are. You could just imagine some of the troubles people are going through around the world, with the media filling their minds with lies, and throwing pictures of perfect "bodied men and women". Some people even resort to plastic surgery, altering parts of their body because they are not satisfied, just to make it seem that they fit in to the category of perfect bodied women. We as Catholics are born in the image and likeness of God, so why would anybody alter images just to change the faults of their bodies?
I am all for the "Natural" look and it's super awesome that people actually want to make a difference in our society. I hope that this continues for more years to come, because this is really putting a positive image for younger teens to look up too. Many people might not be attracted to the not so glamorous cover page, but it's the message that counts.
