Is Taxing pop really a solution?

I believe that this scare campaign is very effective, it enter twines with the last post as many people are really conscious about their physique and how thin they are because of the media bombarding them with perfect bodied women. I can't say that i have never drank pop or never ate chips in my life, I have, but I would always put it to a minimum and only drink pop in special occasions such as; parties. My mom always told me that drinking pop is very bad and contains high amounts of sugar, its very true. I do crave pop at times, but I would try and substitute that craving with something healthier such as; orange juice or water. Our body needs about eight glasses of water everyday, and substituting that with a bunch of chemicals is just terrible. Canada is ranked 11 in the most obese country in the world, with US being number one. Almost 15% of all Canadians are obese, that's pretty mind boggling, out of the 33 million people we have.

The video that came with the blog is extremely disgusting, and completely changed my thoughts on pop. I knew pop was filled with sugar and chemicals, but with fat? That guy who was drinking the fat almost made me puke. Of course this would also turn off everyone who sees it helping the campaign lead on to success. I will try my hardest to stay away from that, and stick to juice and water from now on even on special occasions, that video just disgusted me. If a new tax were to take effect in America of course it would take effect in Canada, this is because US is very influencable to Canada and we are very close to one another. It's actually a very good thing that this tax will come and take effect, this can change the lives of many people, discouraging them from buying this chemical brew. Hopefully and if this tax comes to a fruition I would never buy pop, but I would probably buy chips, rarely. That ad just disgusted me and makes me never want to touch pop again, besides who would pay $2.00 just to buy a cup of chemicals.

Photo Manipulation in Hiatus on the Media

First off I would like the say that Photo shop is such an awesome application for many uses, if used by the right hand that is. Photo shop can also be used for evil. People photo shop others without the person in the picture knowing, this can be very hurtful to the person Photo shoping them like they don't look good, which they already do. Photo shoping people can also damage the human body has on society, making younger teenagers believe being thin is the way to be "hot" disregarding the important issue, health. The media kept throwing pictures of perfect bodies that the society has thought it is normal to be super thin without having eating disorders or dieting to the brink of death. Photo shop is an awesome application but, must be used for personal use, as if this would ever happen.

It so awesome that Peter Lindbergh came out with this brilliant idea, to show the society that makeup or any other kinds of alterations doesn't make you beautiful. This would totally lift up the spirits of young men and women who are insecure about how they look, it would help them break out of their insecurity and love who they are. You could just imagine some of the troubles people are going through around the world, with the media filling their minds with lies, and throwing pictures of perfect "bodied men and women". Some people even resort to plastic surgery, altering parts of their body because they are not satisfied, just to make it seem that they fit in to the category of perfect bodied women. We as Catholics are born in the image and likeness of God, so why would anybody alter images just to change the faults of their bodies?

I am all for the "Natural" look and it's super awesome that people actually want to make a difference in our society. I hope that this continues for more years to come, because this is really putting a positive image for younger teens to look up too. Many people might not be attracted to the not so glamorous cover page, but it's the message that counts.

Changing the face of Video games

Video games has evolved immensely since the first video game to be introduced to the public, Pong. Atari, the makers of pong who took the concept from previous game ideas such as; "tennis for two", Atari still continues to make games to cope up with the rapid development of video games and technology. Pong was a very simple game, it simulates a two dimensional sports game that resembles table tennis and was extremely popular at the time. Born in the twentieth century and in the midst of the uprising video game, I personally can say that i spent some of my life playing video games, who can say they haven't? Personally I have never played the classic pong, the only kind of pong I played was in colour and totally different from the first one.

The first ever console that I remember was the NES (Nintendo entertainment system), and it was hecka fun at the time. Many games today wouldn't exist without the influence of the old school games such as; Duck hunt, super Mario bros, and killer instinct, three totally different genres that have influenced games of the future. The NES was totally popular at the time I born, but as technology continued to evolve rapidly the NES was outdated in a snap. The same company Nintendo, updated and came with the Nintendo 64 soon to be the influence of upcoming video consoles yet to come. Nintendo 64 was very popular upholding better graphics, game play than the NES. Nintendo 64 having the most funnest game of all time and also one of my favorites "super smash bro's" a compilation of all Nintendo characters. The rise of Sony and hand held consoles will come to rise.

With the new development of ps1 by Sony, it overthrew Nintendo 64, in my opinion. Sony ruled over the the video game industry holding over 1000+ game disks for the ps1. We could see the success of ps1 and knew there would be a new generation of Sony. Handhold consoles also came to fruition, the game boy color and game boy advanced made by Nintendoo was a huge hit and a home to the new hit game Pokemon that will soon infatuate all who play it. Video games have evolved immensely and is invading the minds of who plays them. In the present the Wii pushed it up to a new level of gaming, putting the user into the game by using a cocontroller with motion detectors, many of the other brands such as Sony are also developing motion controllers to match up with Wii's. Microsoft Xbox 360 is also trying to make the user the "controller" using body movements as the controls. Consoles can now play blue-ray discs and hand held consoles can hold music, videos, take pictures, and play high end portable games. It is true that the first video game "pong" has influenced many makers to create video games. Personally owning a ps3 and being a faithful Son consumer, I can totally see the difference between ps2, ps1, and Nintendo. To much video games is bad for you, so keep the gaming to a moderate.

Social Awareness Contradiction

I feel that Dove is doing the right thing for women in order to find their inner beauty. Although Dove is probably doing this in order to sell their products and using this as a slogan to sell this certain product. This can also pose as a good thing because many teenage girls are getting the wrong idea from the media stating "being thin is the key to looking good" this cause many problems to uproar such as; teens getting eating disorders, and type of depression. Girls should be proud of what they have and stop believing in the lies the media tells them, being you makes you the most prettiest girl in the crowd, so love yourself instead of destroying yourself. I am for what Dove is trying to say, women should never believe the lies the media puts out in to the public. Believing in what the media is trying to say is the "perfect women" can lead you to hating your own body making you want to get skinnier by dieting yourself to death or turning to dangerous diet pills. Dove should continue what they are doing and set a clean example of what a beautiful woman is, being yourself.

Axe never ceases to make me laugh on what they come up next. We all know that spraying Axe will never make a you a magnet to girls, it's just their way of attracting male consumers who are stupid enough to believe that and considering how well their doing, people may use it for the quality or for being a "chick" magnet. The Axe ads make me laugh because coming from a guy and a personal user of axe products I know this will never happen, it just entertains me that axe would make an advertisement like this and hope there is many more to come. A woman may think otherwise, mostly or all of the women in the axe advertisement are what you would like to call "attractive" girls, this opposes everything the Dove campaign is trying to do. I think that the parent company should have some responsibility to ensure that all of their sectors have the same believes because if the same company supports two very opposite subjects then that would make you a Hippocrates and nobody likes Hippocrates. Unilever should try to change axe advertisement styles, although hilarious they are to a more casual ad, a way that it connects to what the Dove campaign is trying to say
