Ad. #1Tape Worm DietThis advertisement, out of the four really disgusts me to the max. This goes to show how Naive people were a few decades ago. Its pretty unbelievable that a person would want to ingest tape worms, so that they can eat as much as they want without worrying about getting fat. Tape worms can damage ones body severely, these little nasties can grow up to 6 inches to 26 feet long which is nasty. These little parasites can cause diarrhea, stomach pain, weight loss, and constipation. Tape worms can also cause death if left inside to long. According to the T.V show 1000 ways to die, a woman obsessed with getting thin resorted to putting tape worms in her body, a few months later the tape worm grew to an enormous length and laid eggs, the ladies organs were severely damaged and she died. It so stupid how people back then risk their own health just to prevent themselves from being fat.

Ad # 2 Smoking
This advertisement really made me laugh, it so funny how advertisements use human emotions in order to sell their product, in this case the emotion is love. By smoking and "blowing cigarette smoke" on the girl you like she will follow you around. Today's cigarette commercials are nothing like they used to be a few decades ago, today's commercials on smoking are either to prevent discourage people not to buy them buy putting disturbing images and telling you the health risks, I hardly ever see smoke commercials. It's also funny how people back were so oblivious on how smoking is terrible for your health, but we cant blame them, they were less educated than we are today. If this advertisement were to show today I doubt "Tipalet" would sell anything, and many women activists would complain, but I doubt that anything like this would ever show up on today's advertising society.
This ad is very fair and doesn't disturb as much like the other pictures. This tells me the advertising a few decades back was very new and still had many flaws to fix when advertising. Since there was not much information on lard back then, people who were advertising this products thought it would be a wonderful idea to tell people lard is a good and healthy thing to eat by showing a happy family saying lard makes people happy. Today's society was more informed back then and actually know what lard is, this ad would never survive in today's market. Lard is basically pig fat, and is used for shortenings, substitute for butter, and cooking fat, and this has many health concerns because it is pure saturated fat. It's hard to imagine that people advertised that lard was a good thing to eat, but I believe these ads succeeded in the past do to the lack of knowledge of lard.
Ad # 4 Smoking doctorsAt the time this ad was produced it was probably a huge hit and was very popular due to the lack of knowledge, for all we know people back then probably smoked cigarettes 24/7 because the ad portrays a doctor smoking. If this ad was shown in today's society. people would think this is outrageously stupid and the person who made this ad would be smoked for life. Smoking is bad for you, and what makes this ad ironic is that, a doctor should know that. Many people today still smoke and is the leading cause of death around the world, even with the many advertisements in T.V's cigarettes packages showing effects of cigarettes, but people still smoke it. I also understand that people back perceived smoking was a healthy thing and a "cool" thing to do, so who's to blame them.
